  What made you settle and set up East Algarve Property Rentals and   East Algarve property Management in this region?

  We settled here because of the combination of pleasant climate,   friendly culture, and natural easy way of living. After 3 years of peace   and rekindling our creativity, we thought we should find some   business to occupy us. This type of business was recommended to us   by local estate agents who had recognized the need for reliable, multi   lingual property managers who could offer a professional service.   
  My language skills, strong Customer Service background and   enjoyment of being around people, compliment the technical expertise   of Hans who has always had an interest in web design and business   management.

  As a husband and wife team, what are your roles within the   organization?

  The business and marketing strategy, commercial decisions, and initial   client meetings we do together. I tend to do the customer interface,   resolving issues, arrivals and departures, and coordinating with the sub   contractors to ensure clients' interests are safeguarded. Hans   concentrates on the technical and financial aspects of the business,   continually updating our website.

  Is there anything different or special about the service you offer?

  Personal service is the key, and also honest and direct dealing with all our clients. This is particularly important in   handling customer expectations. From our experience, for example, we are happy to give a realistic estimate of the   potential return from their investment. Our clients have confidence in us that if a problem needs to be resolved, it   will be openly discussed and resolved.

  How do you offer such a personal service when you have so many clients?

 We offer different levels of service. We offer a fully managed service to 40 of our clients, with a full guest service   to 70 of our clients, with meet and greet, and 24/7 support. We offer rental opportunities only to another 100   clients via our web site. This is provided in six languages, and a high ranking on the search engines ensures a high   profile for our clients' property. Clients have the flexibility to upgrade or downgrade the level of service, depending   on their circumstances. We also choose our sub contractors carefully. They must have the same values of   customer care as we have, particularly doing what is promised and doing it on time. We regularly vet them and   their work, carried out on behalf of our clients.

  Do you have accommodation to suit all visitors?

  Generally, yes, we do. However, we would be happier to have more villas, with a pool, during August. We have   accommodation in most regions in the East Algarve with proximity to golfing, bird watching, hill walking, beaches   or town living. It is possible to enjoy a quality holiday on a low budget, or we can offer a luxurious villa on a golf   course, and of course all types of houses in between. We can offer properties which are suitable for disabled   visitors. From time to time, we use our network with others to provide accommodation, which we may not have   available at the time.

  Whose interest do you serve first, the property owners or the visitors?

  Both, one is dependant on the other. We have set up safeguards to protect both. A bond is paid on arrival, and a   final check, before departure, ensures that any damages are paid for from the bond. We also advise clients of   things that need to be done, which might otherwise cause problems for guests, and we suggest ways of doing   them.

  How do you resolve complaints, when they arise?

  Professionally, honestly, and we try to keep smiling. We can sense how serious and genuine the problem is, and if   the complaint arises, when the visitors are here on holiday, our speed of response is vital. Complaints made,   following a holiday, are investigated and a response given. A lot of our business is based on referrals and so it is   important to us that our customers are happy with the outcome.

  How do you know that your clients are happy with the service you provide?

  They come back. We handle departures personally and get feedback. We encourage our clients to provide a     guestbook for visitor comments, which we read and action.
  Rental only clients give us feedback from their visitors. We also offer customers contact details of clients who are   willing to provide references for our services.

  Why have you decided to sponsor this web site?

  Tavira deserves a good website to promote the good things it has to offer, not just to Portuguese and foreign   visitors, but to encourage networking between local businesses, Portuguse citizens, ex pats and foreigners living   and working in Tavira. If this generates more business for us and other locals so much the better, but it is more   about promoting the Tavira we love. We particularly like the Tavira today section and the recommendations   offered by local people who know what they are talking about. We wish the website and Tavira a sunny future!
